About ISSA members
Our members are individual security professionals, security managers and executives, and other professionals whose work involves information security. It is important to note that only individuals can join ISSA, meaning each of our members are involved on an individual basis and their organisations are not considered ISSA members. We feel that this membership arrangement gives members a stronger tie to ISSA since their involvement is independent of their current employer and continues as they move between organisations and progress through their career.
Why join ISSA
For most of our members ISSA membership is about a local connection with the wider security community. ISSA chapter meetings and other events give members an opportunity to meet other Irish professionals, to learn from experts in a particular topic and to develop contacts. International member benefits, such as the ISSA Journal and online training seminars, provide a global perspective on information security and also highlight issues common across geographies, issues which may affect Irish organisations in future, etc.

As an example of the calibre of ISSA members and the benefits of association involvement, the following are the thoughts of one of our current international board members on the value of ISSA membership:

"Being a member of ISSA has been such a great experience - both personally and professionally. On a personal level, ISSA has introduced me to some of the most caring and supportive people whom I have remained close to over the years. On a professional level, it has been an honor to work with such a top notch and professional team of people. Many of these ISSA security colleagues have been my professional mentors and advisors. ISSA is more than just a professional association; it is truly a supportive community." - Lisa "LJ" Johnson, Global Information Security Officer, Nike
How to join ISSA

Organisations and ISSA
As noted above, it is not possible for organisations to join ISSA, however ISSA is fortunate to have the support of many organisations who facilitate the involvement of their personnel, for example by reimbursing employees for membership dues, allowing time off for ISSA events or supporting employees who volunteer to serve ISSA. We are extremely grateful for this support and are keen help organisations increase their ISSA involvement, for example by facilitating bulk membership purchase or otherwise simplifying membership administration.
