Can my organisation join the ISSA?
Can I pay my membership fees in euro / by cheque?
Membership Categories
The ISSA operates 6 categories of membership, but only two apply to the Irish chapter.
Most members use the standard "general membership" category, with affiliation to the Irish chapter. The other general category ("without chapter affiliation") is intended for members in areas without a local chapter, and therefore does not apply to anyone in Ireland.
The "organizational membership" category is rarely used in Ireland, and does not allow an organisation to join (see below). Rather, it is used when an organisations policies require that staff join in the name of the organisation. Members in this category are treated identically to other Irish members, other than being charged a higher fee.
The other "organizational" category - "government" - is similarly irrelevant in Ireland and has never been used.
The "student" and "trial" membership categories are new to the Irish chapter. Student membership allows full-time students and academics, but is not available through the international (ISSA.org) signup form - applications must be made locally. Trial membership is now also available, but offers only limited benefits for a limited period. Can my organisation join the ISSA?
Only individuals can join the ISSA, there is no way for an entire organisation to join. It is not possible for an organisation to pay for a "pool" of memberships or to rotate a single membership amongst multiple employees.
We believe there are significant benefits for organisations whose employees are involved with the ISSA, as a review of our previous meetings will clearly show We believe organisations committed to information security will encourage their staff to join the ISSA, as has been demonstrated by the many organisations with multiple members.
Can I pay my membership fees in euro?
Absolutely, we are happy to arrange local payment and can also issue a local invoice or even a group invoice for multiple signups from the same company. Please contact us at info@issaireland.org if you would like to discuss these or other payment options.
