- November 2009 Update - Feedback Needed
-
After carrying out the Irish Cybercrime Survey on two occasions ISSA is considering whether to repeat this project or to redirect our limited resources to other projects. We are therefore soliciting feedback on whether the Irish Cybercrime Survey has been useful, how Irish organisations and other stakeholders have used our data and whether further reports would be of value. We would also like to hear which elements have been particularly useful, as well as suggestions on how the project could be improved or expanded, for example areas which should be dropped or enhanced, any new elements which should be added, etc.
Please forward any feedback to info@issaireland.org or contact a member of the ISSA Ireland board. In the absence of feedback it is likely that the Irish Cybercrime Survey will not be repeated.
- Background
-
The ISSA / UCD Irish Cybercrime Survey is the result of a unique collaboration between the Irish chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA Ireland) and UCD's Centre for Cybercrime Investigation. This project is led by ISSA volunteers and conducted without any external funding, relying on the continued goodwill and support of the Irish information security community.
When first launched in 2006 the Irish Cybercrime Survey had two goals: firstly to assess whether Irish organisations were experiencing cybercrime and secondly to determine whether there was an interest in further research on cybercrime in Ireland. Based on the 2006 findings and extremely positive feedback ISSA and UCD agreed to repeat and expand the Irish Cybercrime Survey and a second survey was carried out in 2008, focusing on cybercrime incidents occurring in 2007. Both surveys are available for download below.
