Announcing Ireland's Largest Ever Information Security Event
Since 2003 ISSA Ireland has organised dozens of security seminars for Irish security professionals. In May of this year we will host our largest event yet: a two-day conference being held at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (Kildare Street, Dublin 2) on May 11th and 12th. We are very excited about this event and believe it will be the largest information security event ever held in Ireland.

Our chapter board of volunteers have lined up a fantastic programme for this event with over 30 expert speakers, more than a dozen of whom are coming to Dublin specifically for this conference. We recommend downloading the latest programme to see details of the speakers and topics being covered, or you can read on for some of the highlights.

You can download a preliminary conference programme here.
Ticket Prices
Ticket prices for this two-day, two-track conference begin at €100 for current members of ISSA. Those wishing to join ISSA Ireland or renew their membership can do so via the ISSA.org website at a cost of $250 (approx €175) which will cover conference attendance, one year of ISSA International membership and one year of Irish chapter membership.

Members of the Irish chapters of ISACA and OWASP can also buy tickets at the member rate of €100. Members of other professional groups, for example IISF, IRISS and the Irish Computer Society will have received discount codes from their associations which reduce the ticket price to €125.

Finally for those who are not a member of any relevant professional group and who do not wish to join ISSA a standard ticket price of €225 applies. For any questions on these costs or for queries on ticket booking please email info@issaireland.org.

If you do not have a discount code or have any other queries on ticket booking please email info@issaireland.org. We are also happy to discuss cash payment or payment by invoice / purchase order.

Keynote Speakers
We are delighted to have three top-level international speakers giving keynote presentations at this conference:

- Ed Gibson, Director of Forensic Technology Solutions with PwC in Washington, DC. Ed's presentation at the ISSA Irish Cybercrime Forum in 2005 was a tremendous success and we are delighted to bring him back to Dublin for this event. Since speaking in 2005 Ed moved from the FBI and joined Microsoft UK as Chief Security Advisor before returning to the US in 2010 to join PwC. He is an authority on combating high-tech crime and his talk will set the context for the remainder of our conference. (full bio)

- Dennis Jennings, co-founder of 4th Level Ventures. Looking at the impact of Irish technologists the work of Dennis Jennings stands out as exceptional by any measure. While working for the US government in the 1980's he was responsible for the creation of NSFNET, the network that would go on to become the Internet. He later helped establish some of Europe's most successful research networks including EARN and HEANet, as well as being instrumental in the creation and management of the ".ie" top-level domain while heading UCD's Computing Services department. His contribution to Internet standards and governance has been widely recognised by organisations such as ICANN, the international organisation which oversees the Internet's Domain Name System, where he served as Vice-Chair up to December last. With this unrivalled background in Internet governance we look forward to hearing his views on the future of the Internet. (full bio)

- Fred Piper was appointed Professor of Mathematics at the University of London in 1975 and has worked in information security since 1979. In 1985, he formed a company, Codes & Ciphers Ltd, which offers consultancy advice in all aspects of information security. He has acted as a consultant to over 80 companies including a number of financial institutions and major industrial companies in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, South Africa and the USA. He has lectured worldwide on information security, both academically and commercially, has published more than 100 papers and is joint author of Cipher Systems (1982), one of the first books to be published on the subject of protection of communications, Secure Speech Communications (1985), Digital Signatures - Security & Controls (1999) and Cryptography: A Very Short Introduction (2002). Continuing Professional Education
If you hold a certification such as CISM, CISSP or CISA you are required to obtain Continuing Professional Education credits to maintain your certification. We know that this can be difficult for many Irish professionals who find themselves scrambling to find CPE credits at the end of each period. By attending next week's ISSA conference you qualify for 13 hours of CPE credit at a very low cost per CPE compared with commercial training or conferences in other countries.
Maltego Workshop
Many of you will have come across Maltego, Paterva's tool for open source intelligence and forensics. More specifically you have probably read a little about this interesting tool and made a mental note to try it out at some point, probably never getting back to it. On the Wednesday of our conference Bob McArdle of Trend Micro is leading a two-hour hands-on Maltego workshop which will take you through in two hours what might otherwise take you several days.
Peer Networking
We are delighted to have been able to host multiple tracks at this conference, meaning there is a choice of sessions in between each keynote talk. On Wednesday we have application security sessions in the morning and digital forensics in the afternoon, while Thursday's side sessions cover systems audit and information security in the public sector. The latter track is a great example of the opportunity to meet peers in a specialist area, with presentations from Martin Kerrigan of the Department of Enterprise, Neal Mullen of St Vincents Healthcare Group and Vincent Duffy from the Revenue Commissioners.
International Speakers
ISSA events have often featured international speakers who have visited Dublin specifically to meet our members and this conference is no different. We have a dozen international speakers, many of whom have never spoken at an event in Ireland. One of our most popular past speakers is returning for a keynote: Ed Gibson, formerly of the FBI and Microsoft UK, and one of the finest international speakers on computer crime. From the University of Cambridge we have two leading information security researchers, Omar Choudary on Chip & PIN security and Frank Stajano on his "PICO" system for replacing passwords. Presenting the latest results from the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report will be Jelle Niemantsverdriet of Verizon, while Fred Piper joins us from Royal Holloway in London for a keynote talk. Many other international speakers are listed in the programme (PDF).
Sponsorship Opportunities
We still have a handful of opportunities for organisations interested in participating in the conference we have a limited number of sponsorship opportunities available, please contact Colm Deehan to discuss, at colm.deehan@issaireland.org. We realise that some smaller companies may wish to participate but may not have the resources for an exhibition stand so we have several other options and formats available, please get in touch for details.
